The Schroders London International Boat Show
Excel Docklands London.

For the first time in many years, indoor windsurfing is returning to the international stage at the Schroders London Boat Show at the beginning of January 2004. The first ever indoor windsurfing championships in the UK will be at the heart of the Boat Show taking place in a 70m x 30m pool in 30 knots of wind, powered by 25 huge fans.

The show is a must see for all fans of windsurfing and is expected to attract spectators from Europe and all over the world. British sailors who have entered include the likes of Nik Baker (Mistral, North), Robby Swift (JP, Neil Pryde), John Skye (Arrows, F2), John Hibbard (Starboard), Chris Audsley (Fanatic), Ben Proffit (JP, Neil Pryde), Shawna Cropas (JP, Neil Pryde) and Louise Emory (Mistral, North). On the 18th of January, there will be special UKWA (UK windsurfing association) versus PWA event featuring slalom, freestyle and jump finals, with 5000 prize money and a Honda motorcycle up for grabs.

The arena has a 70m x 30m pool, 30-knot wind machines, a big screen and seating for over 1,500. From the 12th onwards there will be at least two separate pool sessions which will feature slalom, jump and freestyle competition formats with the winners of the UKWA events earning their stripes to compete against the likes of Robby Naish (Naish), Ricardo Campello (JP, Neil Pryde) and Kauli Seadi (AHD, Naish) in the UK versus rest of world climax on closing day. All details of daily programmes and ticket details can be found on or and

There will plenty more to keep windsurfing enthusiasts amused with a full compliment of windsurfing importers at the Boat Show meaning that most brands will be on display. The Show will be open from 8-18th of January 2004 with the doors open from 10am-7pm except on Thursday the 15th, (9.15pm), Saturday the 17th (7pm) and on Sunday the 18th when it will close at 6pm.
