IFCA Hyeres - Final Results
Posted On:  12/09/2011 13:37:41

All fleets had sailed two rounds by the end of day one, with the exception of the masters. Frustrated by the lack of wind, the race committee were eventually able to sail the masters runners up on Saturday after a general recall of the masters final. After that, no wind!

On Sunday the race committee tried again to run the masters final and kept them on the water for about an hour and a half hour. But sadly the wind only reached 9-10 kts so it couldn't be done. Thus all the masters who reached the final are given 5 points each.

Delphine Cousin (FRA 775) is the Women's Slalom World Champion, Lise Vidal (FRA 19) is second and Marianne Kaplas (FIN 13) is third.

15 year old Benjamin Auge (FRA 2) takes the junior title with a fourth and a first. William Huppert (FRA 330) matched Benjamin in points with a first and a fourth, but this is where RRS A8.2 comes into play ". . . they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race", so William, aged 16, finishes in second place. Jean Le Bot (FRA 332), also 16, is third.

William Alikiagelelei (FRA 540), aged 19, is the clear winner of the youth fleet with two bullets. Jordy Vonk (NED 69) and Jocelyn De Souza (FRA 873) also finished on equal points but RRS A8.1 determines that 18 year old Jordy is second overall and 19 year old Jocelyn is third.

In the Masters Fleet Pedro Soares (POR 24) breaks the French domination of the championship titles and is First Master. Fabian Courtiade (FRA 70) is second and ITA 92 Giovanni Franchine is third and also first Grand Master.

Well done to Hyeres Windsurf Organisation for putting on a great event despite the lack of wind.
