Formula Windsurfing World Championship update
Posted On:  02/05/2011 06:29:53

Top racers from all over the globe have been signing up for this year's Formula Windsurfing World Championship in Puerto Rico.

Dennis Littel, Netherlands - "Can't wait to attend at the worlds in Puerto Rico! Preparation is already started and I’m counting down the days"

Fernando Martinez, Spain - "This winter I have been training a lot, down at Cadiz, together with Martin Ervin EST-202, and we are both, Martin and me, happy to confirm that we will be coming to Puerto Rico."

Jesper Vesterstrom, Denmark - "Really looking forward to Puerto Rico for worlds. We have been so many amazing places so far and I am sure the great winds and friendly people in the Caribbean wont let us down."

Miguel Martinho, Portugal - "I've never been in Puerto Rico, but all competitions in South America are great, so I hope this one will bring some good results for me."

Steve Allen, Australia, 3 times World Champion - "I am looking forward to this event as it looks like a great place with good wind and I am feeling very good with my gear this year."

Other names attending include - Micah Buzianis (USA) a former World Champion; Gabriel Browne (Brasil) youth world champion; Gonzalo Coata Hoevel (Argentina); Paulo dos Reis (Brasil) silver medallist in 2010 Worlds; Andrea Cucchi (Italy); and Wilhelm Schurmann (Brasil) currently heading the formula world rankings.

The Event will be held in San Juan, the Capital of Puerto Rico. Specifically in the Ultimo Trolley Beach extending to Ocean Park Beach. San Juan offers the perfect balance between city and beach. Interesting enough, San Juan, also happens to provide the best and most dependable conditions for kitesurfing and windsurfing in Puerto Rico. But make sure you dont limit your stay to only the dates of the competition; there is so much to see, do and taste! Happening clubs and discos make San Juan one of the Caribbean’s nightlife capitals, rivaling even Miami. Great restaurants run the gamut from elegant places in San Juan to simple spots serving delicious comida criolla. Beaches - both developed and wild - suit the needs of surfers, sunbathers, and families. Nature abounds, from the underground Río Camuy to El Yunque, the only Caribbean national forest

The organisers have selected The Sheraton Puerto Rico as the Official Host Hotel of the 2011 PR Wind Fest. Situated in the midst of the Puerto Rico Convention Center District and next to the marina, the hotel is a district centerpiece that is conveniently located just 10 minutes from the international airport, 8 minutes from the competition site and five minutes from historic Old San Juan.
