A good day's racing in Los Alcazares - two races for all the techno fleets today, racing on two courses, and three races for the Raceboard fleet. The top of the leaderboard in the Techno under 17 boys fleet is now dominated by Israel and only one point separates the top two. Leader Ofek Elimelech is just one point ahead of Yael Paz who took two bullets today. 3rd placed Tomer Blum has scored three in all his counting races. Just one point behind him, on equal points, Michele Cittadini from Italy and Baptiste Carissan from France. Baptiste will no doubt be really happy with such a marked improvement on his results since Medemblik. The under 17's will now be split into Gold and Silver fleets for the final days of the competition - it should be an interesting fight for the podium places. Meanwhile, in the girls u-17, World Champion Marta Maggetti has nailed the top position, taking the bullet in all 5 races so far. In second and third places Zuzanna Czurylo from Poland and Zohar Ben Hayoun from Israel are on equal points, as are fourth and fifth placed Brits, Emma Wilson and Emma Labourne. Under15 boy, Tom Monnet from France has a perfect score at the top of the leaderboard, now that the first discard has kicked in, Israeli Yoav Cohen is four points behind in second place and Tom Arnoux from France in third is another six points behind. If the wind decides to play, the final days of racing could change the ranking as there have been some good scores by competitors further down the list - but consistency is the key. Italians Gulia Alagna and Giorgia Speciale occupy the two top spots in the u-15 girls with Brit Sarah Labourne in third, although Lucie Pianazza from France is breathing down her neck just one point off the podium. Olympian and Master Joao Rogrigues from Madeira has a clear lead in the Raceboard Championships - after 6 races, with one discard, he has a perfect score of 5. Spaniard Ivan Pastor looks pretty comfortable 4 points behind in second. The tussle will be for the third place on the podium as there is little to separate Max Wojcik, currently third, Romeo Otten from the Netherlands and Curro Monchon from Spain. Juha Blinnikka from Finland is first Grandmaster, our one and only lady competitor Maria Antonia Dominguez is first Veteran, Pierre Ledet from France is first youth. RACEBOARD photo gallery with new pictures The hospitality of the organisers has been fantastic and at the end of the day, competitors were treated to a barbecue. The atmosphere and the noise level as everyone tucked into the feast was totally amazing - what a party! The wind forecast is looking good for the final two days of this championship. All to play for and a lot could change. | |
