On day 5 here in Greece many competitors were hoping to get races completed in order to bring into play another discard.  Unfortunately Mount Pentelis, which sits majestically above Marathon bay, wore a heavy crown of thick black storm clouds. ......( more )

Day 4 here in Marathon Bay, Athens, Greece saw us playing the waiting game.  Just one race completed.  A light forecast SE was fighting with the NE thermal.  Each wind direction negating the other.......( more )

Day 3, Aeolus the Greek god of wind returned to Marathon Bay providing us with 5 races in 10 to 16 knots of NE thermals.

We were sent to the water the instant the wind started.  The RO tried to get race five underway before the wind had really kicked in.  Light, patchy conditions saw about 10 of us reach the top mark within the time limit, however the rest of the fleet were left struggling.  LAT-23 made it back down to the bottom mark before they cancelled the race.  The day before, two races were completed in lighter more unstable conditions. ......( more )

Day 2 was the kind of day that (heavier), older guys like me see in our nightmares.  Yet for others (more fit, younger, lighter), light wind is their advantage.

Race 3, the Race Officer recorded between 8-10 knots on the start boat, however many of us felt it was much lighter. Needless to say only about 10 competitors got away planing from the start before the wind dropped further.  Must have been on the limit.......( more )

After a solid month of classic 20 knot "meltemi" wind in Marathon Bay, an unexpected storm front put an end to the NE perfection.  The wind gods however, smiled on our opening day of the championship providing us with 10-16 knots of SE wind which allowed us to complete two races back to back.......( more )

Sadly, it is finished . . . A dream come true!  One would have wished it lasts again for ever but no, unfortunately, it had to come to an end after months of preparation. Brutal stop!

What an Event . . . After 24 years of deep sleep and disappearance from the sailing world, this is with emotions we've seen our black II flag rising again officially ashore and on the mast of committee boat.......( more )
