2001 FUNBOARD (WINDSURFING) RACING RULES
2001 CALENDAR/DIARY

1. FORMULA WINDSURFING EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS..SOPOT, POLAND

The event starts on 3rd June with registration and the first race on the 5th. The event ends on the10th June. Getting to Sopot is easy by both air, road or ferry. Those who have been to Leba know the way because Sopot is just a few miles further on, if you are driving through Germany. The motorways get better every year. The Notice of Race is on the FW section of the IWA Website and entries can be sent to: Raceoffice@internationalwindsurfing.com

2. FUNBOARD EUROPEAN WAVE AND FREESTYLE CHAMPIONSHIPS..GUINCHO, PORTUGAL

This event starts on the 26th June, with the first possible heat at 12.00hrs. The final day is the 30th, and the prize giving will be at the Estoril Casino, one of the official sponsors. The Casino offers us the best hospitality and entertainment that any event could and competitors and officials should ensure they have smart casual clothes, though the casino show girls are noteworthy for their mystifying lack of clothes!! An international jury will be provided and Guincho's waves and golden sand promise a great event.

Guincho is 15 kms north of Lisbon with plenty of accommodation in the area. For more information, the NOR will be on the IFCA section of the IWA Website and on www.overpower.net shortly. Information can be obtained from: info@internationalwindsurfing.com or direct from the organisers, Clube Overpower: overpower@100surf.pt

3. EUROCUP NEWS

The end of May Cagliari, Sardinia event NOR is now on the web. www.euro-cup.org

The Travemunde, Germany, event promises to be very well attended. Early entry is recommended. All official German FW events of the German Windsurf Cup will be sailed under the full International FW rules, 7 knot wind speeds at start, 70cm maximum fins, etc.

For more info get on the mailing list by simply send an e mail to: majordomo@mailingliste.Kundenserver.de

4. MIS-USING THE NAME

There are a few people that think that one can organise Formula Windsurfing for a one design one manufacturer board. Like the Funboard Class, FW racing is a competition between manufacturers as well as sailors. That is what will keep the Class up to date, interesting and active for many many years.
