At a recent meeting of IWA Board of Directors, Ezio Ferin, Chairman of the Techno 293 Class, was installed as the 2006 IWA President. As the IWA enters its sixth year a major objective set by the Board is the continued development of 'junior windsurfing'. Supplementing established racing programmes from Mistral Junior One Design and Formula classes, Techno 293 is seen as the 'Optimist' for windsurfing.
Ezio commented: "a new class for a new era in the development of competitive windsurfing - I am relishing the challenge of developing this class into a truly worldwide base for our sport." |

IFCA /IFWC TAIWAN EVENT POSTPONED Posted On: 13/08/2004 Due to unforseen circumstances and uncertain political situation in the region, IFCA and IFWC have taken the decision to postpone this year's event in the Penghu Islands, Taiwan.
The Organisers hope to return with an event in 2005. In the meantime IFCA are working to reschedule the 2004 Slalom Worlds later in the year, all options are being explored. |

Posted On: 02/04/2003 The IWA and its member classes engaged in a consultative process at the end of last year to ensure that as many people within the industry as possible could freely express their opinions in regard to the selection by ISAF of new Olympic equipment. Naturally, it is impossible for everyone to agree on everything, however, three key views were expressed by almost everyone:
a) The Olympic windsurfing equipment should change for 2008
b) The majority of the brands want tight measurement tolerances to be established. Not a One Design Class.
c) The majority want a free builder class

This year Fiji will be hosting the Games of which 22 countries will be participating. The sailing events are the Olympic Class held on Mistral One-Design boards (Men & Women) + Hobie 16 & Lasers. Windsurfing has been a South Pacific Games event since 1987 when the games were held in Noumea/New Caledonia.
