SOUL CLASSIC, Weiden - Austria
European Freestyle Pro Tour
10.9. – 11.9. 2004

As there was no wind on the first day the riders started the competition with a lot of chill out, which is famous for this event.

On the second day the wind started to blow from south direction very early in the morning so that the competition, could be started as scheduled 9.30.

In the first round there were no big surprises accept local hero Frank Lewisch lost his heat against swiss rider Beer Baptiste (Fanatic/Arrows). However in the second round we saw Michi Rossmeier (F2/Arrows) loosing against a very strong performing Tom Hartmann (Naish) and overall #4 ranked Tine Slabe (F2/Arrows) loosing against Dani Bikich (F2/Arrows).

At the quarter-finals Tom Hartmann (Naish) lost against Andrea Rosati (RRD/NP). Swedish rider Andreas Olanderson (JP/NP) succeeded against Dani Bikich (F2/Austria) from austria, and the favourite for the event title Normen Günzlein (JP/NP) took the victory from Jonas Schmidt (Mistral/Arrows).

The biggest surprise of the event however was shown by the swiss routinier Pesche Vogt (F2/Arrows), who eliminated the overall tour leader Matteo Guazzoni (RRD) at the quarter finals.

At the semi finals Andrea Rosati (RRD/NP) moved on against Pesche Vogt (F2/Arrows) and Norman Günzlein (JP/NP) against his team mate Andreas Olanderson (JP/NP).

The finals showed freestyle windsurfing on a very high level, and a very close decision between Pesche Vogt (F2/Arrows) and Andreas Olanderson (JP/NP) fighting for 3rd and 4th place. At the end the Andreas convinced the judges with his very stylish and fluently done moves so he finished the competition in 3rd position.

Also for Andrea Rosati (RRD/NP) and Norman Günzlein (JP/NP) the decision was very close, so it was fantastic for the crowd at the beach to watch the actual #2 and #3 of the 2004 EFPT ranking fighting for the title in Weiden.

After seven minutes of fantastic freestyle performance Norman succeeded and took his second victory after Sizily of this years tour.
