Formula Windsurfing Euro-Cup 2006

Today the Windsurfing Office has presented the calendar of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup 2006. This season the tour of the most important racing and slalom series will consist out of eight events. The events are organized in close co-operation between the Windsurfing Office, the International Windsurfing Association (IWA), the International Formula Windsurfing Class (IFWC) and the International Funboard Class Association (IFCA). The prize money of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup 2006 sums up to a total of 180.000,00 EUR.

The kick off event of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup 2006 takes place in Leucate in the South of France from April 22nd to 27th. The famous “Mondial du Vent” invites the best windsurfers of the World for the first benchmark of the season in slalom competition and offers a total of 15.000,00 EUR prize money.

The second tour stop of the Euro-Cup invites the racing experts to the Formula Windsurfing European Championships in Portimão/Algarve (Portugal) from May 8th to 13th. The experienced organization team of Clube Overpower who have already organized several Euro-Cups and other international events will ensure a perfect event. As IFWC Championship the event fully focuses on the discipline racing (Formula Windsurfing). The regatta offers a prize money of 20.000,00 EUR.

The next tour stop will be in Ialisos/Rhodes (Greece) from June 2nd to 12th. Rhodes is famous for its spectacular conditions which ensure perfect Slalom and Racing competitions. With 35.000,00 EUR prize money the Windsurfing Euro-Cup Rhodes will be a major attraction for the competitors.

The Euro-Cup will stay in Greece for the fourth tour stop which will take place on the windy island Paros. This time it will be again the turn of the slalom racers who will fight for 15.000,00 EUR prize money. The exact dates of this event are not confirmed yet.

After Paros the Euro-Cup will have a summer break in July to continue with the IFCA Slalom World Championships in Alacati/Cesme (Turkey) from August 1st to 6th. The Euro-Cup had a very successful event in Alacati last year. The perfect conditions enabled the race committee to run not less then nine
Slalom eliminations. Now as an official IFCA World Championship the event carries EUR 30.000,00 prize money and will bring all the top slalom racers to Turkey.

From Turkey the Euro-Cup tour goes north to the coast of the Baltic Sea in Leba (Poland). Poland is famous for its huge crowds of windsurfing fans at the beach. The Windsurfing Euro-Cup Leba takes place from August 9th to 13th and has both disciplines Racing and Slalom. With 30.000,00 EUR prize money
it is a must for all top racers.

The next event of the EC tour 2006 will take place in a unique venue from August 16th to 20th: Silvaplana/St. Moritz (Switzerland) is located in the middle of the Alps at a height of over 1.800 metres above the sea level. Windsurfing on the Lake Silvaplana embraced with high mountains often covered with snow is an experience that competitors will never forget. The Euro-Cup Silvaplana will have both disciplines Racing and Slalom and a total prize money of 20.000,00 EUR

For the final event of the 2006 tour the Windsurfing Euro-Cup will return to Portugal in the end of August. Again Clube Overpower will be the host for the competitors and ensure a perfect event with a prize money of 15.000,00 EUR.
